宏村

Hongcun's water system, ancestral halls and merchant-era residences demonstrate Huizhou village planning within a still inhabited settlement. Famous reflection ponds are community infrastructure and public space, not permission to block lanes or enter homes.

西递

Xidi preserves a dense network of Huizhou lanes, ancestral spaces and decorated residences shaped by lineage and merchant wealth. Reading inscriptions, spatial hierarchy and water management is more meaningful than collecting doorway portraits.

徽州古城

The old prefectural centre in Shexian contains gates, streets, memorial arches and living neighbourhoods tied to Huizhou administration and commerce. Modern businesses and residents share the historic fabric, so public monuments and private courtyards must be distinguished.

屯溪老街与黎阳片区

Tunxi's riverside commercial street preserves Huizhou shop-house form while serving a contemporary city; nearby lanes broaden the view beyond souvenir retail. Early or evening walks reveal local rhythms, but upper floors and rear courtyards remain private unless opened.

黄山风景区

Mount Huangshan's granite peaks, pines, cloud and historic paths form a World Heritage cultural landscape. Cableways shorten ascent but not exposed stairs, weather risk or huge distances; choose one route and obey all closures.
