Places to explore in Jiaxing

Xitang Ancient Town
西塘古镇
Xitang suits a leisurely route linking waterways, stone bridges, lanes and waterside covered walkways. Its charm lies in the scale of its streets and life beside the water, not in checking off as many buildings as possible. Morning and evening light have different qualities, and night visits differ from daytime venue visits. Begin along a main waterway, then choose courtyards or exhibitions according to access. Lighting, shops and water levels in reference photographs reflect the time they were taken.

Wuzhen Ancient Town Tourism Area
乌镇古镇旅游区
Wuzhen’s canals, stone bridges and waterfront buildings invite slow walks. Distinguish Dongzha and Xizha when planning; their spaces and ticketing arrangements are not interchangeable. Daytime suits observing lanes and craft spaces, while lighting and reflections create a different evening atmosphere. Whether to stay overnight depends on return transport, not an obligation to purchase a package. Current photographs focus on historical night views of Xizha, not all Wuzhen, and do not guarantee identical current lighting.

South Lake Tourism Area
南湖旅游区
Jiaxing’s South Lake combines urban lake scenery with modern historical themes. Shore walks, boats to the island and memorial-hall visits require separate planning. Reaching the lakeshore does not mean reaching every attraction. First-time visitors can decide whether exhibitions or scenery matter most, then organize a route around opening hours. Interpretive guides help explain Yanyu Tower and Red Boat-related sites. Current photographs mainly show historical lakeshore scenery; actual access follows same-day announcements.
