Xingping Ancient Town
Xingping is a long-established Li River settlement where lanes, market life and ferry history occupy a narrow strip between karst peaks and water. Its popularity comes partly from nearby views associated with the 20-yuan banknote, yet the town is more useful as a base for understanding river transport and village geography. Commercial storefronts and resident spaces coexist, so not every alley is a visitor attraction.

Getting there
Use the intercity bus from Yangshuo or authorised road transport. Rail passengers at Yangshuo station should note that the station is near Xingping, not central Yangshuo town.
Practical notes
Arrive early for quieter lanes, check the last return bus and distinguish public riverbanks from ticketed raft or cruise zones. Respect homes and do not enter private courtyards for photos.
