Places to explore in Yan’an

Yan’an Revolutionary Memorial Sites
延安革命纪念地景区
Yan’an’s revolutionary memorial area comprises multiple historic sites and commemorative spaces. Baota Mountain, Yangjialing and Zaoyuan present different aspects of modern Chinese history. Read the exhibition background before exploring cave dwellings, assembly halls and historic premises rather than simply photographing buildings. This set of reference photographs shows Yangjialing, not exhibitions in the other areas.

Yanchuan Yellow River Qiankun Bay Scenic Area
延川黄河乾坤湾景区
Qiankun Bay lies along the Yellow River in Yanchuan and offers elevated views of river meanders and loess hills. The river makes sweeping bends between the hills, with viewing platforms and areas such as Qingshui Bay providing different perspectives. Take time to appreciate landforms and changing light; sunshine, sunsets or unusual clouds cannot be guaranteed.

Yellow Emperor Mausoleum Scenic Area
黄帝陵景区
The Yellow Emperor Mausoleum on Qiaoshan in Huangling is an important traditional site for honoring Xuanyuan, the Yellow Emperor. Xuanyuan Temple, ceremonial spaces, ancient cypress woods and the mausoleum area form the visit. Architectural layouts and inscriptions offer insight into ritual traditions. Legends associated with the Yellow Emperor are cultural narratives and should be distinguished from verifiable buildings and historical evidence.
