Basongcuo Lake
Basongcuo is a high glacial lake enclosed by forest, villages and mountain ridges, with Tashi Island and Tsodzong Monastery forming part of a living sacred landscape. The main visitor circuit shows only one part of a wider system of valleys and trails. Water, woodland and settlement should be read together: the lake is neither an isolated postcard nor permission to treat the island, temples or villages as unrestricted photo sets.

Use official scenic transport from the current visitor entrance or verified regional connections. Outer-valley hikes require separate confirmation, time and preparation.
Practical notes
Check reservation and shuttle rules, follow clockwise or site-specific religious etiquette, stay off closed lakeshore and never fly drones without permission. Cold rain and altitude can affect even short walks.
