岱庙
Dai Temple
Dai Temple anchors the ceremonial relationship between Tai'an and the mountain. Its palace-like walled plan, Tian Kuang Hall, courtyards, ancient trees and hundreds of steles preserve evidence of state sacrifice, local worship and changing interpretations of Mount Tai. The complex also houses Tai'an Museum functions, so architecture and collections should be read together rather than treating it only as a picturesque prelude to the climb.

Getting there
Walk or use city buses from central Tai'an. It can be combined with the Red Gate axis, but allow separate time rather than rushing through before a long ascent.
Practical notes
Check whether admission is bundled with mountain tickets, protect old trees and stonework, and do not make unauthorised rubbings. Begin with the site plan, then compare inscriptions by date and patron.
