Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park
The Waterwheel Expo Park interprets the large wooden wheels once used to lift Yellow River water into irrigation channels above the riverbank. Reconstructed mechanisms show how current, paddles, troughs and gravity worked together to support fields and urban settlement in an arid environment. The site is strongest when read as practical hydraulic technology rather than as decorative riverside scenery.

Use city buses, taxi or the continuous riverside walking route east of Zhongshan Bridge. River cruises and water buses are separate seasonal services.
Practical notes
Observe moving machinery from behind barriers and supervise children. River levels, maintenance and winter conditions can change demonstrations; check whether mechanisms are operating before making a special trip.
