Longji Rice Terraces
Longji's cultivated terraces climb steep mountain slopes around Zhuang and Yao villages. Their appearance follows the agricultural calendar—water-filled fields, green rice, golden harvest or winter fallow—so the landscape should be understood as working farmland maintained by communities, not a permanent postcard. Ping'an and Jinkeng Dazhai offer different routes and viewpoints.

Getting there
The terraces are far from Guilin and final mountain roads are slow. Use a confirmed direct shuttle, bus connection or licensed car, and know which village entrance your accommodation or route requires.
Practical notes
Plan a full day or overnight stay, pack lightly for stone steps, and check harvest timing rather than trusting generic seasonal photos. Ask before photographing residents and do not enter planted fields.
