Norbulingka
Norbulingka developed as the Dalai Lamas' summer residence, combining Tibetan palace architecture, chapels, gardens and water features in a greener western part of Lhasa. Together with the Potala and Jokhang it forms the UNESCO Historic Ensemble, yet its spatial character is quieter and more domestic. Garden paths help visitors notice how ceremonial rooms, summer climate, landscape design and court life related to one another.

Reach the signed public entrance by bus or licensed taxi. The grounds are broad, so check the exit location and do not plan a tight transfer immediately afterward.
Practical notes
Stay on open paths, respect closed restoration rooms and observe interior photography rules. During festivals or community activities, give participants priority rather than treating performance and dress as props.
