The county yamen preserves the spatial logic of local imperial government: ceremonial gates and courts lead through administrative halls toward archives, residential areas and a prison section. Architecture separated public authority, clerical work and private life. Displays help translate the institution, although reconstructed elements should be read alongside the surviving plan rather than as literal scenes.

Getting there
Walk south from the central market tower area through the pedestrian lanes. The compound is extensive, so do not schedule it in the final minutes before pass closing.

Allow time for multiple courtyards and labels. Some rooms have narrow steps; follow circulation signs and verify performance times separately from museum access.
