Zhujiajiao Ancient Town
Zhujiajiao is a living Jiangnan water town on Shanghai's western edge, where canals, stone bridges, riverside houses and market streets preserve a scale very different from the central city. Fangsheng Bridge is the landmark, but quieter lanes, Kezhi Garden and views from a small boat make the town understandable as a connected water-based settlement rather than a single shopping street.

Getting there
Metro Line 17 reaches Zhujiajiao station, followed by a walk or local transfer to the old town. Budget substantially more time than the rail journey alone suggests.
Practical notes
Boat rides and ticketed courtyards are separate services. Visit early on weekends, wear shoes suitable for uneven stone paving, and keep the return metro schedule in mind.
