The Wuling Mountain Great Rift Valley features escarpments, canyons and narrow rock fissures. Open routes connect mountain paths with confined spaces between rock walls. Areas such as Qingtian Gorge offer views of rock strata and changing light. Significant elevation changes mean physical effort should not be estimated solely from straight-line map distances.
