Hulun Lake
Hulun Lake is a large shallow steppe lake and an important northern bird habitat within a nationally protected landscape. Its shoreline, water level and bird concentrations vary with season and hydrology. Visitors should use managed access areas and treat fishing closures, shuttle systems and shoreline barriers as part of ecological recovery. A wide horizon is the experience; close wildlife encounters are neither necessary nor guaranteed.

Getting there
Travel by official shuttle or authorised vehicle from Manzhouli or Jalainur to the current visitor centre. Distances are large and exposed roads may close in severe weather.
Practical notes
Do not enter closed shoreline, launch drones or disturb nesting birds. Check wind and storm warnings, carry layers, and verify whether food products comply with current fishing and conservation rules.
