Midui Glacier
Midui is a maritime glacier descending from high snowfields toward forested lower terrain, illustrating the dramatic vertical ecology of southeastern Tibet. Public viewpoints are intentionally distant from unstable ice. Glacier retreat, falling rock, avalanches and meltwater make the terminus hazardous, so old photographs or informal tracks are not evidence that closer access is safe or permitted today.

Getting there
Reach the managed entrance from the Bomi section of G318, then use current shuttle and walking arrangements. Road disruption can add hours, so keep the schedule flexible.
Practical notes
Never cross closure ropes or walk onto ice, moraine or meltwater channels. Check rain, avalanche and road notices, use sturdy footwear and turn back before weather blocks the return route.
