Milk Lake and Five-color Lake High Route
The route to Milk Lake and Five-color Lake reaches a very high glacial basin above Luorong Pasture. Thin air, exposed slopes, rapidly changing weather and long return logistics make it a serious mountain undertaking despite its popularity online. Lake colour varies with light, ice and weather, and access may close for conservation or safety. Completing the route is never more important than health, ecological limits or a safe return.

Only use the currently approved trail beyond Luorong and verify cutoff times with staff. Horse or commercial assistance, when offered, does not remove altitude or weather risk and may not cover the entire route.
Practical notes
Do not attempt this on arrival day or with any altitude symptoms. Turn back at the first worsening sign, carry no disposable oxygen as a substitute for descent, and never shortcut switchbacks or touch the lakes.
