Yading Short Route: Chonggu and Pearl Lake
The shorter Yading route links the Chonggu area with forest paths and Pearl Lake below the sacred peak Chenrezig. It offers a substantial high-altitude landscape without requiring the longest upper-valley hike, and is often the more responsible choice during early acclimatisation. Chonggu is part of a living Tibetan Buddhist cultural landscape, while boardwalks and lake-edge barriers protect fragile vegetation and water.

Enter through the official visitor system and use required scenic transport to the designated trailhead. Transfer queues and last-return times matter more than straight-line distance.
Practical notes
Choose this route instead of pushing higher if acclimatisation is incomplete. Walk slowly, do not feed wildlife or leave the boardwalk, and follow photography restrictions and worship etiquette near religious structures.
