明永冰川
Mingyong Glacier
Mingyong descends dramatically from the Meili massif toward the warm, dry Lancang valley, making vertical climate and glacier retreat unusually visible. Modern boardwalks and observation points intentionally keep visitors away from unstable ice, moraine and meltwater. The glacier is changing, so the position shown in old photographs is not a safe target; current barriers, rockfall warnings and staff instructions define the visit.

Use the official village entrance and current shuttle or walking system. Mountain roads are narrow and exposed, so travel with an experienced authorised driver.
Practical notes
Never cross barriers, walk on ice or approach meltwater channels. Check rain, rockfall and trail notices, pace for altitude and turn around before afternoon weather or fading daylight.
