故宫博物院

The Forbidden City is located at the core of Beijing's historical axis and is a complex of imperial palace buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The layers of courtyards, ceremonial halls and living spaces jointly display the etiquette, administrative system and palace life of the empire. Touring from south to north makes it easier to understand the overall layout than checking in several halls individually.

成都武侯祠

Wuhou Temple in Chengdu is an important museum that focuses on the history of Shu Han and the cultural memories of the Three Kingdoms. The palaces, mausoleums, inscriptions and later gardens commemorating figures such as Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang together illustrate how real history, political ideals and folk narratives have been intertwined over a long period of time.

大足石刻

The Dazu Rock Carvings consist of several protected areas and were mainly excavated between the ninth and thirteenth centuries AD. The cliff statues in Baoding Mountain, Beishan and other places use their exquisite art, inscriptions and scenes of daily life to form a unique dialogue between Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. The entire series of heritage cannot be summarized by just one famous statue.

善化寺

Shanhua Temple History, Humanities and Geography: Shanhua Temple is located at No. 6 Nansi Street in the ancient city of Datong. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Liao and Jin Dynasties. It is the most complete preserved Liao and Jin architectural complex in China. The temple has four original Liao and Jin structures including Qishanmen (Tianwang Hall), Sansheng Temple, Main Hall and Puxian Pavilion. The mountain gate is the largest existing Jin Dynasty mountain gate in China. The three holy halls have Jin Dynasty lotus oblique arches. The Main Hall is one of the eight major Liao structures. The Auspicious Goddess (Great Auspicious Merit Heaven) in the hall is known as the most beautiful statue of the Liao and Jin Dynasties. Public transportation: The ancient city is within walking distance, and the ancient city ring bus has the "Shanhua Temple" stop.

黄河源开放科普区域

The Zhaling Lake-Eling Lake system is a key area in the upper reaches of the Yellow River in Sanjiangyuan National Park. The core area is not an ordinary tourist destination. Only approved routes and currently open science areas can be used. Wetland and wildlife protection takes priority over sightseeing.

良渚古城遗址公园与良渚博物院

The ruins of the ancient city of Liangzhu preserve evidence of early regional states based on the rice farming civilization from about 3300 BC to 2300 BC. The city platform, water conservancy system, and hierarchical cemeteries display planning, social differentiation, and belief systems, while the museum helps understand the low-rise earthen remains through jade and archaeological research. Heritage parks and museums should be complementary parts of the same story.

西递

Xidi preserves a dense collection of streets, ancestral hall spaces, and decorative dwellings shaped by the wealth of clans and Huizhou merchants. Understanding the inscriptions, spatial hierarchy and water management is more meaningful than just collecting photos of the gatehouse.

铁塔

The Iron Pagoda is located in the Iron Pagoda Park at No. 210 Beimen Street, Shunhe Hui District. It was originally named Kaibaosi Pagoda. It was built in the first year of Emperor You of the Northern Song Dynasty (1049). It is the earliest, tallest and best-preserved glazed brick pagoda in the Northern Song Dynasty and is known as "the best pagoda in the world". It is not made of iron, but is made of brown glazed bricks, which makes it look like iron from a distance. The tower body is octagonal and has 13 floors, about 55.88 meters high, and is inlaid with more than 50 kinds of glazed bricks such as flying apsaras, unicorns, and bodhisattvas. After earthquakes, Yellow River floods, and anti-Japanese war bombardments, it still stands tall, which is the most faithful testimony of Kaifeng City's "repeated flooding and repeated construction".

布达拉宫

The Potala Palace stands on the Red Mountain and is a large-scale palace building; the White House, the Red Palace and its stairs, Buddhist halls, murals, wooden structures and ritual instruments together preserve many levels of Tibetan political, religious and artistic history. This is a fragile heritage system, not a stage set. The visit is a controlled one-way route with limited time and lots of climbing, so the outside views are worth understanding as much as the World Heritage context, rather than just a quick trip through the interior.

黄河壶口瀑布（山西侧）

At Hukou, the broad Yellow River is forced into a narrow rock trough, forming strong falling water, water mist and seasonal ice. The color, volume and available platforms of the water are constantly changing; this is both a geomorphological event and a cultural symbol of the Yellow River, and must be viewed from a managed platform.

龙门石窟

More than 2,000 caves and niches are spread out along the limestone cliffs of the Yihe River. The most intensive excavation period lasted from the late Northern Wei Dynasty to the prosperous Tang Dynasty. The early works reflect the changes in palace status after the capital was moved to Luoyang, while Fengxian Temple represents the mature royal scale and shape of the Tang Dynasty. The inscriptions, donors and medicinal prescriptions make this place a record of society and belief, rather than just a string of giant Buddhas.

古格王国遗址

The castles, caves, monasteries and murals of Guge rise from the eroded plateau, preserving evidence of Tibetan western kingdoms and trans-Himalayan exchanges. Fragile walls, steep paths and sensitive paintings make protective navigation rules indispensable.

清净寺

Qingjing Temple Qingjing Temple is located at No. 108-110 Tumen Street, Licheng District. It was built in the second year of Dazhong Xiangfu (1009) in the Northern Song Dynasty. It is one of the oldest existing Islamic temples in China. The gatehouse imitates the style of the Damascus chapel in Syria, with bluestone pointed arches and Arabic stone carvings. The roof of the "Fengtian Temple" of the worship hall has long since collapsed, leaving only the ruins of stone pillars. Instead, it has become a very atmospheric filming corner. It is across the street from Guanyue Temple. The scene of two religions on one street is the epitome of diversity and tolerance in Quanzhou.

龙华寺与龙华塔

Longhua Temple and the seven-story Longhua Pagoda together constitute an important Buddhist historical space in Shanghai. The existing tower retains the architectural features of the Song Dynasty. It adds an earlier historical layer to the Shanghai itinerary that is often dominated by modern narratives, and the surrounding neighborhoods can also naturally connect to the West Bank Riverside.

绍兴博物馆

Shaoxing Museum introduces ancient Yue archaeological culture and urban development through weapons, ritual vessels, ceramics, and regional tomb and settlement materials. The compact chronology explains the political world behind familiar stories such as Gou Jian, and also helps understand later canals, bridges and craft traditions. Museum evidence allows for a deeper presentation of pre-Qin history beyond the tourism of literary celebrities.

大鹏所城

Dapeng Suo City originated from the coastal defense station of the Ming Dynasty and retains the city gates, street pattern, defense relics, temples and later mansions related to the South China Sea. Its space also records defense during the Qing Dynasty, village life in the 20th century, and community use that continues today. The ages of the existing buildings are not consistent. When visiting, you should combine the protection instructions to distinguish between the original structure, the restored part and the revitalized part.

泰山

Mount Tai combines ancient sacrifices, inscriptions, temples, historical roads and mountain ecology into the same cultural landscape. The climbing route is long and has dense steps, and the ropeway cannot completely replace walking; the route should be selected according to physical strength, and should be closed during thunderstorms, ice or traffic restrictions.

秦始皇兵马俑博物馆

The Mausoleum Museum of the First Emperor of Qin is a large-scale archaeological site, not just a single exhibition hall displaying pottery figurines. The three excavation pits display military formations, pottery horses, chariots and excavation traces at different scales, and the cemetery area puts them back into the overall funeral system of Qin Shihuang's Mausoleum. In addition to observing the individual differences of pottery figurines, one should also understand the military formations, production processes and archaeological context.

塔尔寺

Kumbum Monastery is an important monastery of the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism and a living center of learning, rituals and art related to the birthplace of Tsongkhapa. Palaces, pagodas and academies have developed over hundreds of years, while butter flowers, murals and embroidery represent highly professional artistic traditions and are often collectively referred to as the "Three Wonders of Art". This is first and foremost an ongoing religious community rather than a performative heritage, and daily worship of Buddha and Sangha should take priority over sightseeing.

慕田峪长城

The Mutianyu Great Wall stretches along the ridge northeast of Beijing, with dense watchtowers and obvious slope changes. Here you can not only observe the defense system of the Great Wall, but also experience the Great Wall as a real mountain route, rather than just arriving at an observation deck.

都江堰水利工程

Dujiangyan is a water conservancy system that was built in the third century BC and is still in operation today. It regulates the Min River and distributes water to the Chengdu Plain. Yuzui, Feishayan and Baopingkou show how to use topography, river channels and seasonal flows instead of traditional dams to achieve water diversion, sand discharge and flood control. The surrounding temples and mountain roads also retain the historical memories of those who controlled the water.

华严寺

Huayan Temple History, Humanities and Geography: Huayan Temple is located in the southwest corner of the ancient city of Datong. It was built in the seventh year of Chongxi of the Liao Dynasty (1038). It is the best-preserved royal temple of the Liao and Jin Dynasties in China. It faces east from the west and originates from the Khitan people's custom of worshiping the sun. The Main Hall is the largest existing Buddhist temple in the country during the Liao and Jin Dynasties. The 4.5-meter-high glazed owl kiss on the top of the hall is the largest in the country; the clasped-toothed Bodhisattva in the Boji Temple is known as the "Oriental Venus"; the Huayan Pagoda is 43 meters high, and under the tower is the pure copper underground palace of Thousand Buddhas.

南宋德寿宫遗址博物馆

The Deshou Palace Ruins Museum of the Southern Song Dynasty displays the residence of the abdicated emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty in Lin'an City. Protected building foundations, archaeological stratigraphy, digital restorations and palace life displays help the audience understand the palace space without disguising the site as a complete ancient building, and add key urban history to the West Lake landscape narrative.

开封市博物馆

The Kaifeng Municipal Museum is the best starting point to distinguish the stages of multiple capital establishments and understand why the remains of the Northern Song Dynasty are often buried deep underground. Archaeological artifacts, models, city maps, and different versions of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" reconstruct administration, commerce, and daily life without pretending that the modern surface is anything but its original appearance. The subsequent contents of Jewish communities, guild halls, the Yellow River and local crafts also make the urban narrative transcend a single dynasty.
