汉口历史风貌区与江汉关

The Hankou river bank developed into an important commercial port after the opening of the port in the 19th century. Old banks, foreign banks, churches and Jianghan Pass are scattered behind the modern river beach, which not only records the foreign concession space, but also reflects the Chinese commercial network. Walking from the neighborhoods to the river bank, you can understand how trade, flood control and transportation came together to shape modern Wuhan.

胡里山炮台

Hulishan Fort was built in the late Qing Dynasty and is part of Xiamen's coastal defense system. Granite walls, barracks, tunnels and artillery remains, including the large Krupp gun, show how foreign military technology was embedded in China's coastal defense projects; the location facing the strait links the history of technology with real maritime geography.

汉景帝阳陵博物院

The Han Jing Emperor Yangling Museum protects the remains of the mausoleum of Emperor Jing and his queen in the Western Han Dynasty. The underground exhibition hall overlooks the small pottery figurines, animals and funerary objects related to the palace and production and life in the excavation pit. Its restrained and everyday content forms a valuable contrast with the grand military formation of Qin Shihuang's Mausoleum.

西宁东关清真大寺

Dongguan Mosque is an important Muslim worship and community life center in eastern Xining. Its architectural form and changing urban environment reflect the long history of Hui and other Muslim communities living along the trade and migration routes of the Huangshui Valley. Since this is still a functioning mosque, the focus of a visit should be on respecting boundaries and understanding the rhythm of the community, rather than viewing worship as a performance.

兴坪古镇

Xingping is a historic settlement on the Li River, with streets, markets and ferry memories squeezed into the narrow strip between the peaks and the river. The neighborhood is popular because of the association with the 20-yuan image, but the ancient town is more suitable as a node for understanding river transportation and village geography. Commercial storefronts coexist with residential spaces, and not every alley is a tourist attraction.

北海公园

Beihai Park is a royal garden with the lake as its core, located on the west side of Jingshan Mountain. Qionghua Island and the White Pagoda form the most recognizable landscape, while the painted corridors, temples, stacked stones and gardens on the north bank are suitable for leisurely exploration on foot. The water bodies, islands and borrowed scenery in the garden have been constructed through the ages to present a complete classical garden space.

长沙简牍博物馆

The Changsha Bamboo Slips Museum specializes in collecting and displaying locally unearthed bamboo and wooden slips. These fragile documents record administrative, legal, taxation and daily affairs before the popularization of paper. The exhibition also explains the process of excavation, conservation and interpretation of ancient texts, allowing people to directly understand how local government and ordinary transactions were written and managed.

成都武侯祠

Wuhou Temple in Chengdu is an important museum that focuses on the history of Shu Han and the cultural memories of the Three Kingdoms. The palaces, mausoleums, inscriptions and later gardens commemorating figures such as Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang together illustrate how real history, political ideals and folk narratives have been intertwined over a long period of time.

鹅岭公园与二厂文创公园

Eling is located on a long and narrow ridge between the Yangtze River and the Jialing River. The historical park provides gardens and a high view of the city. The adjacent No. 2 Cultural and Creative Park, which was converted from an old printing factory, houses studios, cafes and cultural businesses. The combination of the two enables simultaneous observation of the topography of the Chongqing Peninsula and the contemporary reuse of industrial space.

广东省博物馆

The Guangdong Provincial Museum displays the context of the province through archaeology, ceramics, calligraphy and painting, natural history and the changes in the Pearl River Delta, placing Guangzhou into a larger area extending from the inland mountains to the South China Sea. The contemporary buildings in Zhujiang New Town also form a valuable contrast with the historical sites in Liwan and Yuexiu.

杭州博物馆

The Hangzhou Museum connects prehistoric settlements, the Wuyue Kingdom, the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty, craft traditions and modern urban development on an urban scale. Archeology, ceramics, calligraphy and painting, and daily artifacts connect famous outdoor landscapes with the people and institutions that shaped them, making them suitable as a historical guide before exploring the old city.

哈尔滨冰雪大世界

Harbin Ice and Snow World is an ice and snow landscape redesigned and constructed every season, including lighted ice buildings, large-scale snow sculptures, performances and winter activities. It is not a permanent monument and is rebuilt each time, so pictures from previous years are not representative of the layout of the next one; this project shows how cold weather, ice harvesting techniques, lighting and mass entertainment can combine to form temporary urban-scale works of art.

山陕甘会馆

Guildhalls built by merchants in Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Gansu during the Qing Dynasty combined business contacts, sacrifices, and mutual assistance with fellow villagers. Dense wood carvings, brick carvings and stone carvings turn the facades and screen walls into auspicious images, operas and records of merchants' identities. It shows that after the Song Dynasty, Kaifeng was still a commercial city connecting long-distance trade, and was not just a memorial to the former capital.

翠湖与云南陆军讲武堂

Cuihu is a compact urban park where daily exercise, music activities and winter migratory birds reflect contemporary Kunming life; the adjacent Yunnan Army Lecture Hall showcases the political changes in the influential military education institution and its trainees in the early 20th century. Parks and museums connect the city's daily life with modern history without having to travel far.

兰州水车博览园

The Waterwheel Expo Park displays the large wooden waterwheel that was used to lift water from the Yellow River to the shore for irrigation canals. Restoration Machinery illustrates how water flow, blades, flumes, and gravity work together to support farmland and urban settlements in arid environments. See it as a practical water conservancy technology rather than a decorative riverfront landscape to understand its true value.

南京中国近代史遗址博物馆（总统府）

The presidential palace complex superimposes multiple histories such as the royal palace of the Ming Dynasty, the official offices of the Qing Dynasty, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the Provisional Government of the Republic of China and the National Government. Office areas, gardens and exhibition halls explain why this place has repeatedly become a political center; it should be understood as an architectural landscape that is constantly transformed and reused, rather than the story of a single regime.

青岛德国总督楼旧址博物馆

The Governor's Building was built from 1903 to 1907. It is located on the signal hillside with its stone, asymmetrical volume and exquisite interior decoration. Subsequent use by political figures added new historical layers. The building was used to demonstrate colonial power, and the materials and room sequences preserved today also illustrate elite residential technology of the time.

朱家角古镇

Zhujiajiao is located in the west of Shanghai and is a water town in the south of the Yangtze River that still retains a sense of life. The river network, stone bridges, waterside dwellings and streets and lanes form a completely different scale from that of the central city. Fangsheng Bridge is the most representative, but Quiet Alley, Kezhi Garden and water perspective can better present the complete structure of the water town settlement.

大鹏半岛国家地质公园

The geopark protects the volcanic and coastal landforms of the Dapeng Peninsula and explains rocks, minerals, terrain evolution and urban geological risks through the museum. Forest Mountain Routes allow for true-to-scale indoor interpretation, but trails may be closed independently for repairs, fire breaks, or inclement weather. For a reasonable tour, you should first visit the museum and treat climbing to the top as a project that is subject to conditions rather than necessarily open.

武汉长江大桥

The Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge was opened to traffic in 1957. The upper deck is for traffic and the lower deck is for railways. It is the first fixed channel for the Yangtze River in Wuhan. It physically connects the three towns and reshapes the north-south transportation across the country. Observing from the surrounding mountains, ferries and river banks, one can often better understand the engineering and urban scale than walking long distances along the traffic flow.
